AI use policy#
This policy explains how UK SQE Course uses artificial intelligence (AI), its limits and your choices.
UK SQE Course is an independent SQE preparation provider. We are not affiliated with, endorsed or accredited by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) or Kaplan SQE. We do not register candidates for the SQE and cannot guarantee exam results.
1. Educational feedback only#
AI features help you learn. AI output (explanations, tutor replies, wrong-answer diagnoses, SQE2 marking feedback, recommendations and readiness indicators) is educational guidance only. It is not legal advice, not an official SQE mark, not a prediction of your exam result and not a statement of what the SRA or any examiner would decide. We cannot and do not guarantee that you will pass.
2. Where we use AI#
- AI Tutor: answers questions using our approved learning content as context. It may refuse questions outside the SQE syllabus.
- Wrong-answer diagnosis: suggests why you may have chosen an answer and what to review.
- SQE2 marking: gives rubric-based feedback and indicative criterion scores for written and oral submissions. Scores are practice results using our rubric, not official marks.
- Recommendations: suggests what to study next from your activity.
- Content drafting: our editors may use AI to draft material. AI-assisted content is always reviewed by qualified editors and legal reviewers before it is published, and is not published automatically.
3. Known limitations#
AI can be wrong, can miss a point, can sound confident when mistaken and may not reflect the most recent change in the law. Always check against your course materials, the primary sources and the SRA's guidance. Do not use AI output for real legal advice.
4. Human oversight and challenging a result#
- AI feedback never changes an official result and never reduces your access.
- If you think AI feedback or a score is wrong, use the appeal option on the feedback. A human reviewer will look at it and we use outcomes to calibrate our systems.
- You can request instructor marking (a paid or included option on some plans) for a human assessment of your submission.
- Our team regularly samples AI outputs for quality and bias.
5. Your data and AI#
What you send to AI features is processed by our AI provider to produce a response. We store summaries of interactions and the output you received. We do not allow our provider to use your content to train its general models. You can opt out of your data being used for our own quality improvement under Settings, Preferences. See our privacy notice for retention periods and your rights.
6. Fair use and availability#
AI features may have usage limits per plan and period; your remaining allowance is shown in your account. If AI is unavailable, we provide a clearly labelled basic fallback or tell you so, and the rest of the platform continues to work.
7. Academic integrity#
Use AI to learn. Do not present AI-generated text as your own in any official assessment. Following SRA rules in the actual exam is your responsibility.
